Slippers Extended Provision offers a safe and stimulating environment for all the children in our care. However, I am sure you are aware that there are additional requirements to fulfil when caring for our Early Years Children (Reception). Although these requirements have recently been reduced (September 2014) for Out of School Provision, Slippers still chooses to complete assessments in all of the Prime Areas. These are easily assessed in our play environment and give us a good insight into the development of the child in physical, communication and social and emotional areas.
Each child and family will be introduced to their ‘key worker.’ This member of staff will work closely with the child, be qualified to level 3 or above and offer a direct line of communication for parents/carers. This builds the child’s sense of value and a good working relationship with the family. Through this, an exchange of information can flow to support the child’s needs and development. The assessment folders are accessible to parent/carers at any time and specific discussion times are allocated throughout the year to ensure we share our knowledge and keep families informed.
We are passionate about giving children time to relax and play with their peers – therefore, we keep things in perspective and assessments to a minimum.
Any further information needed about this subject, or Statutory Requirements generally, please feel free to ask at any time.
